Alberta Little Bower "B"

Alberta Little Bower "B", widow of Albert Bunker Bower to whom she had been married for 57 years died August 21st at the age of 91. Alberta moved to the Metropolitan area in 1964. Originally from Kentucky, she secured State Championships in Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and District of Columbia. She won the WMGA Match Play Championship in 1966, 1974, 1976 & 1980. She was two time Low Net Winner of the Mother-Daughter Championship with her daughter Sally Bower Otis in 1966 and 1971. Alberta won the John B. Mackie Memorial Tournament in 1972, Stroke Play Championship in 1978, and Seniors’ “A” Championships in 1975, 1979, and 1981. At the national level, Alberta won the USGA Senior Women’s Amateur Championship in 1975. In 1981, Alberta received many praises for all of her accomplishments in golf. She was elected to the Westchester Sports Hall of Fame, became Honorary Member of the WMGA, and Honorary Member of Women’s Tri-County Golf Association.
